No words to claim, but significant word on the outline cards for the next couple of chapters. I have a pretty good idea where I want to go—nice to know after having been gone so long.
How did you do?

I wrote 932 words yesterday (Tuesday) and realise that the index card for that scene is really 2-3 scenes. I’ll have to make sure both have conflict and twist in the revision. I’m just going to continue writing.
Glad to see you getting on new tracks. And thanks, again, for sharing even that process with us. I get off track, other things come up, including health related stuff, and it is interesting to see how those things got in the way for you and how you have picked them back up. A true lesson for me, in my own world.
No new words today, but glad to see WABWM back on Talysmana. Plus, I am dying to know where this story goes!!
Yay! Talysmana is back! Good to see you, Hanna and Felicia. I feel like we should do a round of catching up!
So here’s my “News from Lake Wobegon”: SP, my last WABWM project, went on hiatus with Talysmana; I’ll have to get that out again, but not yet.
Pipes, my current project, is partly for school and hopefully will be my first real send-out-the-door project. It’s a screenplay–a step down from novels, but since I don’t have an EDJ right now, it might pay some bills. I’m 30 pages in; 45 revised pages are due on Monday. It’s a tight deadline but I know I can hit it. Pipes is also my HTTS project–yeah, I started it, finally!
Sentence: An agorophobic woman visits other places through her front door, but when people she loves start dying, she must learn to harness her ability before it drives her mad.
The script isn’t quite holding true to the sentence yet, but it will work out. One of my secondary characters is trying to take over the story, so I’m going to twist him into a reluctant bad guy. Of course, I told this to the class and they were almost unanimously against it–they like him as he is and were rooting for a romantic comedy with storm clouds instead of the drama with sunshine I was aiming for. So I’ll have to be careful with him.
Sooo… Who’s still here? How are you doing? What’s your project, and how’s it going?
I’ve never posted on WABWM before, but I’m also glad to see it’s back up.
1189 words for me. I try to stick with a daily quota of at least 1050 words, although it seems like I skip writing a couple days each week.
Wrote 732 words yesterday.
My project is called Rinaya, or Rinaya’s Adventure. A very tentative title. I’m just above 2500 words into the project. I started writing it on Monday. The sentence for it is:
After humiliating her teacher on a guild task in the desert, a young adventuress must now wrestle her studies and a revenge-thirsty teacher to achieve her master status.
As I see the story know that sentence isn’t completely accurate, since the teacher won’t be humiliated until they are back from the task. However, I’ve decided to just continue writing. If I get stuck I might fix some sentence lite for the scenes that don’t have them or scenes that morphed into several scenes. And also tweak the book sentence. Right now I don’t want to stop. If I can continue through the whole draft without feeling too lost I’ll be happy.
I’m still here too. No writing to report for the past long while.
Lots of good backstory work however.
I hope to put more time into my project starting tonight.
I guess my story is pretty standard: young girl/needs to save the world… etc, etc…
One thing I did–which I wanted to pass along cause it’s really helped me so far– is I set myself up in Chore Wars. You can setup tasks with gold and treasure rewards. It’s mostly for housecleaning but I added in some tasks for writing, brainstorming, revising, etc. (Also exercise.)
Still haven’t figured out what rewards to give myself for writing (maybe 5 writing treasures = new writing doo-dad/shiny new pen, something like that). However I have set it up so I need to spend 50 gold or 1 treasure for an hour of TV (I might have to up the cost actually), special treasures for ‘going out to dinner’ rewards. etc, etc. Never did housework with such joy before [seriously]. If you can get your family to join in, it definitely adds to the competitive spirit of the thing.
Also, starting yesterday, I have to deduct a treasure for any day where I don’t work on my WIP… ouch!
My catchup:
I took a reluctant hiatus from my WABWM novel, working title, Bx2, thanks to the chaos of life, EDJ and my own health stuff.
I am 80% done with Bx2, started reading HTRYN, and by the end of the first lesson/chapter, realized I had missed an important mark.
What attracted me to the story was the characters, but I had not fully developed them. I have a lot of great scenes but why are the people in them?
So, I am re-ready Character Clinic, HTRYN, and considering a pass again at HTTS.
I figure this first novel will be the toughest.
Along with that I have some poems that have re-surfaced, a few essays to write, and there there is Bx1- a screenplay, and two more books that are in the works — one non-fiction, one fiction. If only EDJ did not take up so much time … !!!
